How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Process and fulfill your orders
- Communicate with you about your orders and inquiries
- Send you marketing communications (with your consent)
- Improve our website and customer experience
- Prevent fraud and enhance security
- Comply with legal obligations
Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to:
- Remember your preferences and shopping cart
- Analyze website traffic and usage
- Personalize your experience
- Measure the effectiveness of our marketing
Cookies fall into three groups, and you choose the last two separately when you first visit:
- Essential — signing in, your shopping cart and checkout. These are always active because the site cannot work without them.
- Analytics — Google Analytics, which tells us how many people visit and which pages they read. Nothing is stored on your device for this until you agree to it.
- Advertising — only if you agree, we load advertising tags from Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Pinterest, Microsoft Advertising and TikTok. These let us see which ads bring people to our shop, and show our products to people who have visited before. If you do not agree, these tags are never loaded at all — not merely switched off — and nothing whatsoever is sent to those four companies.
- Google Ads, which works differently — Google Ads is part of the same Google tag that is already on every page, so it is not a separate tag we can withhold. Instead it follows your choice through a Google system called Consent Mode. If you have not agreed to advertising cookies, it still tells Google that a page was viewed or an order was placed — but with no cookie read or written, no advertising identifier, and nothing that singles out you, your device or your order. Google can only use those signals to estimate, across everyone, roughly how many sales its ads led to. Agreeing to advertising cookies is what lets Google connect a specific order to the specific ad you clicked. We made this change because we could not otherwise tell whether our advertising was working at all.
- Matching an order to an ad — when you complete a purchase and have agreed to advertising cookies, Google may also receive a scrambled form of the email address you entered at checkout. The scrambling is one-way: it lets Google recognise that the person who bought something is the same person who clicked one of our ads, but it cannot be turned back into your address. We use this only to understand which ads lead to real orders. It is never sent if you have declined advertising cookies.
You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie preferences link at the bottom of any page, or control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect some website functionality.
Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with:
- Payment processors (Square, PayPal) to process transactions
- Shipping carriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx) to deliver your orders
- Meta, Pinterest, Microsoft and TikTok, and only if you have agreed to advertising cookies
- Google, for advertising measurement. Anonymous, cookieless signals are sent whatever you choose, as described under Cookies and Tracking above; identifying information — including a one-way scrambled form of your email address, used to match an order to an ad you clicked — is sent only if you have agreed to advertising cookies
- Service providers who help us operate our business
- Law enforcement when required by law
Data Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but we strive to protect your information using commercially acceptable means.
